About Wisdom Woman Weekend Retreats

Wisdom Woman Weekends aim to serve the needs of the whole woman. To that end, we attract workshop instructors and content that will assist you to explore the many facets of your inner and outer life - planting seeds and providing tools for your overall well-being and wholeness.

Wisdom Woman Weekends provide a unique opportunity to "build your own retreat," filled with just what you think you need to replenish your body, mind and soul. The venue, Stillheart Institute, is located in the mountains of Woodside, CA, and is an elegant and magical retreat destination.

Wisdom Woman Weekend retreats allow women to treat themselves to a variety of choices, including an ever-changing agenda of mini-workshops presented by gifted instructors, extra services (massage, energy work, etc.), nourishing food, and activities and entertainment that have been designed with total wellness in mind. Additionally, there are a number of amenities that make Stillheart the perfect location, including an indoor saline swimming pool, indoor hot tub, sauna, hiking trails and on-site labyrinth. Meet the Wisdom Woman Weekend Team

Cassie Schindler, Founder of The Alternate Path and MBSR (Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction) Instructor, is the creator and Facilitator of Wisdom Woman Weekend retreats. Since a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis thirteen years ago, Cassie has taken her healing into her own hands and is dedicated to sharing her blueprint for wellness and life balance. "My mission is to invite women to the well, to have them experience a variety of modalities for finding peace and wellness in their lives and to celebrate their essential feminine nature."

Dr. Marjorie Barlow, is the author of The Possible Woman and her recently published sequel The Possible Woman Steps Up. For more than 40 years, Marj has been a teacher, mentor, counselor, therapist, and relationship coach. At this stage of her life, Marj enjoys being a change agent who provides a sounding board, bringing you as a unique individual to your own potential-realizing your unexplored and unexpressed possibilities. She is a good role model for women and has served as a developmental advisor to corporate management teams. For more information about Marj, click here.

April Franklin, built a career managing front-line operations teams in multinational Fortune 100 companies. Along with success in the corporate world, April welcomed physical challenges such as skydiving, running marathons and climbing mountains. At the age of fifty, April realized she needed more than high pressure work and physical achievement - she needed deeper fulfillment and more meaning in her life. She paused her career to study and obtain her masters degree in Spiritual Psychology. April's business background, ability to manifest professional and personal goals and her spiritual practices and journey make her uniquely qualified to help you discover your deepest values, overcome obstacles, and reach your goals.

Mary Kay Mitchell, is a certified water instructor through the YMCA and Aquatic Exercise Association of America. Mary Kay also studied Tarot with Dr. Gladys MacGarey at the Edgar Cayce Institute in Phoenix, Physic Terry Molloy in Sedona, Arizona, internationally-known astrologer Jessica Murray in San Francisco and metaphysical artist and mentor Don Berry at the Linden Center of Creativity in Tuscon, Arizona. Tripti Mahendra, has been practicing yoga since the age of 10, while taking classes with her mother. Her formal teaching began at the White Lotus Foundation in Santa Barbara and Tripti continues to expand her knowledge at the Insight Yoga Institute. Tripti is a mindfulness-based yoga instructor who incorporates personal support and adjustments as well as alternatives to make the yoga poses accessible. "I believe that having compassion for one's body should play an integral role in your practice. Jackie Simmons & Jan Marsella, offer a unique blending of energy work and spiritual support that they have named Bio-Spiritual Journeys. Their synergistic approach supports wellness and self-healing at all levels by helping the individual release limiting energy patterns of the past and empowering and balancing life in the present, in a manner that is both gentle and safe. A Bio-Spiritual session is 60 minutes in length at a cost of $85 and is paid directly to Jan and Jackie at time of appointment. Mary Kay Mitchell - What's in the cards for you? Mary Kay brings 30 years of experience as a Tarot reader, empath and instructor with a client base all over the world. Mary Kay's individual tarot sessions will give you an insightful look at your personal relationships and work situations, while suggesting ways to overcome obstacles and create positive change. Readings are personal, unique and confidential. Questions are encouraged. Sessions are 15-20 minutes in length at a cost of $40, which is paid directly to Mary Kay at the time of appointment. Terry Bell has been giving friends and family massages since she ws a little girl, and became a professional massage therapist in 1993. She continually attends classes to learn new modalitites to add to her repertoire, which includes Sweedish, Cranial-Sacral, Myofascial Release and Shiatsu. Lodging & Rates

There are options to choose from when it comes to your lodging at Stillheart. You may choose to stay in the Main Lodge, or experience the Tree House rooms on the grounds surrounding the Main Lodge.

Based on the pricing schedule below, decide if you will be rooming with one person, or two. Please indicate your roommate selection upon registration, or a roommate will be assigned to you.

The following pricing is per person and includes a 2 night stay, meals, mini-workshops and events throughout the weekend. Massage, tarot reading and energy work appointments are charged separately and paid directly to the individuals performing those services.

Cancellation/No Refund Policy: In the event that you should need to cancel your registration for any reason, 1/2 of your payment will be applied as credit to an upcoming The Alternate Path event. You may also request a gift certificate for the amount of 1/2 credit. No cash refunds or credit card credits are given.


Other Information

  • No pets are allowed at Stillheart.
  • Alcohol is permitted, but will not be served by The Alternate Path staff. You are welcome to bring any beverages (beer and wine and nonalcoholic) of your choice to enjoy throughout the weekend in the common areas of the lodge. Beverages other than water are not allowed in the lodging rooms.
  • Please feel free to bring other items that will make your stay more enjoyable, i.e. pillow, throw, magazines, books, etc.

The goal of this weekend is to provide a warm, safe, enriching environment for wisdom women of all ages to share, learn and explore the many options for destressing and balancing work and life.
